€100,000 in grant aid for 9 developing enterprise projects
Carlow County Council’s - Local Enterprise Office Carlow approves over €100,000 in grant funding to nine businesses in the latest tranche of approvals. Ten jobs will be created immediately; with an additional ten coming on stream in 2017.
Speaking about the approval of grant aid, Kieran Comerford, Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Carlow noted how the jobs were being created: “Of the nine businesses that we have approved for funding this month, ten jobs will be created with another ten coming within 18 months. This allows businesses to capitalise on the upturn in the economy which is a very positive sign that small businesses are feeling confident in their medium term future”.
Bernie O’Brien, Director of Services for Carlow County Council welcomed the latest round of funding announcement: “I greatly admire innovators and entrepreneurs, who we really have to take our hat off to that identify opportunities. It is very encouraging to see local small businesses that started up during the recession now expanding and having confidence to grow and invest in their budding workplace. Our Local Enterprise Office is actively seeking out and identifying new and aspiring entrepreneurs that may have a good idea for business and need some guidance and support along the way”.
Describing the types of businesses that have been funded in the latest round, Comerford stated: “We have a great list of businesses this month from various sectors including manufacturing, data management, embroidery and mechanical engineering. All businesses are internationally trading or manufacturing and several have strong potential to grow their export sales. All are currently employing less than 10 staff (as this is a requirement for LEO funding), and all have great plans to continue their growth trajectory”.
