€17m plan builds on past , present and future
Carlow Local Community Development Committee and Carlow County Council today (8th June 2016) unveiled its Local Economic & Community Plan (LECP) for County Carlow. The plan and its strategic actions represent a community and economic development framework which will see the delivery of €17m worth of supports and services delivered to the communities in County Carlow between 2016-2021.
Speaking at the announcement , Eamonn Moore , Chairperson of the Carlow Local Community Development Committee said “The Local Economic and Community Plan provides an ambitious, yet achievable, Economic and Social Vision for County Carlow, with living and workable actions and ongoing monitoring and appraisal” , Moore continued to say “that new Carlow Local Community Development Committee which is community driven is now an integral part of the change management process of Local Government to provide enhanced integrated delivery of public services via the ongoing development of collaboration and partnerships between the public sector and communities”.
The Plan which was approved by Carlow County Council and its members following a public consultation process and speaking at the announcement the Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr Charlie Murphy said that “the Local Economic & Community Plan was one of the most important publications produced by Carlow County Council in partnership with the community and public sector stakeholders.
Speaking about the implementation of the plan Kathleen Holohan , Chief Executive of Carlow County Council said “Over the coming months our team along with external partners will work with all stakeholders to develop a clear implementation plan for the programme of actions in the plan which includes the delivery of projects such as LEADER , Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme and the economic and enterprise support services of the Council’s Local Enterprise Office” , Holohan continued to say “the plan represents the first strategic partnership approach guided by government and puts in place a vision for better and more integrated local government as envisaged by Putting People First”.
Concluding the announcement Eamon Moore, Chairperson of Carlow Local Community Development Committee said “he would like to thank everyone who participated in the very important task of preparing this plan, who did so with great energy and ambition. Moore concluded by saying “I look forward to working with all stakeholders in a spirit of confidence and cooperation over the coming months and years as we strive to realize our ambitious vision for County Carlow contained in this plan”
