Carlow County Council , County Carlow Chamber and local traders have today (3rd July 2018) announced 9 Saturday’s of Free Family Fun to be hosted on Lower Tullow Street over the summer months from 11am-4.00pm each day starting this Saturday 7th July 2018. From Library Mornings , Free Face painting , Baloon Modelling , Carlow’s First Busking Competition , Weekly Retail Offer of the Week , character painting with free parking periods in Haddens Car Park the streets will be alive with activity for all to enjoy while also enjoying Carlow’s Retail and Hospitality offer. Each Tuesday the weekends activities will be posted on the Carlow Local Enterprise Office Facebook Account for all to share over the summer months.
Speaking at the Launch , Kathleen Holohan , Chief Executive of Carlow County Council said “we are delighted to be able to present these family fun days in partnership with County Carlow Chamber and our Traders” , Holohan continued to say “we understand that the nature of our Town Centres have and will continue to change and over the coming months we want to redesign how to support our Town Centre Business Community”, Holohan continued to say “we shortly will setup a Town Centre Forum and appoint a Co-ordinator who will work with our Business Community”.
Speaking about the project , Brian O’Farrell , CEO of Carlow Chamber said “we are delighted that local retailers Shaws , Detail , Sherwoods , Savana , Bramleys , Douglas Jewellers , Mac’s Menswear ,Elverys & Allens have gotten behind this pilot project which encourages people to come and enjoy our streets and shop local” , O’Farrell continued to say “Buying from local businesses keeps money circulating closer to where you spend. Local shops use local services, accountants, insurance brokers, suppliers as well as employing local people and they also carry a higher percentage of locally produced goods”.
