CARLOW COUNTY COUNCIL COMMITS TO PARTNERSHIP APPROACH TO TOWN DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Meeting with Town’s business community examines outcome of publicconsultation process 

Representatives from Carlow County Council, including Kathleen Holohan, Council Chief Executive, met with local business people on Tuesday 3 July at Woodford Dolmen Hotel. The purpose of the meeting was to communicate the results of the recent public consultation process on the Carlow Town Development Plan and to get feedback from the business community.   

Over 100 local business people attended the meeting which lasted 2.5 hours and addressed a wide range of queries and concerns and ended with a renewed commitment to engage made by Carlow County Council.  To that end a Town Forum will be established to ensure that there is a forum for input into future processeswhich will result in helping secure and enhance the future economic health of the Town. 

Commenting on the meeting Kathleen Holohan, Carlow County Council Chief Executive said, 

“We were delighted there was such a large and engaged attendance from the business community.  It is clear that, while issues and concerns with specific aspects of the Planwere raised and passionately expressed, the overall commitment is to achieving a Carlow Town centre that is an attractive location for locals and visitors and one which is equipped to thrive economically into the future.   The Council is fully committed to achieving this objective in partnership with the local community and ensuring the result is one we will all be proud of.”
