Council launches Business Excellence Guide for Inward Investment

Carlow County Council today (3rd March 2016) launched its new Investment Publication “County Carlow – A Home for Business Excellence” which is one in a series of marketing and development tools to be launched during 2016 by the Council’s Local Enterprise Office.

Carlow County Council’s – Local Enterprise Office was established to source investment for and maximise opportunities in County Carlow working with a variety of stakeholders. The office has a unique client based approach which assists potential projects from enquiry through to development as well as supporting existing companies in business sustainability.

Speaking about the publication, Kieran Comerford – Head of Carlow County Council’s – Local Enterprise Office said “County Carlow has significant potential for enterprise development with a young, vibrant and diverse population and with its proximity to Dublin and being the gateway County to the wider South East of Ireland is ideally placed for FDI investment”, Comerford continued to say “our role in the Local Enterprise Office is to facilitate the development of a clear marketing message for the county and this publication will assist in prompting Carlow as a location for Foreign Direct Investment which has significant opportunities for employment for the people of Carlow and the wider Region”.

Commenting on the role of Carlow County Council in Economic Development, Kathleen Holohan, Chief Executive said “Carlow County Council’s  key focus remains on economic development and enterprise support with specific emphasis on working with our key enterprises and stakeholders in order to promote Carlow as an ideal place to do business“, Holohan continued to say “that during 2016, Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office will invest over €1m in local programmes, supports and projects that have an economic benefit for the County”.

Holohan continued to say “A recent example of our new way of working in economic development is the roll out of our new Festivals, Events & Tourism Venue Funding. The Council awarded €100k in funding to a variety of projects that have the potential to generate over €2.2m in the Local Economy therefore supporting a variety of jobs in the tourism and hospitality sector”, Holohan concluded to say “that this is an example of how we can refocus our efforts to ensure the maximum amount of output for our investment in jobs for County Carlow”.

Speaking at the Launch Cllr. Charlie Murphy – Cathaoirleach, Carlow County Council said ““As a County we have many fantastic examples of companies who are centres of excellence in their field and this publication highlights this to the potential external investor”, Murphy concluded by saying “I welcome this publication and would encourage everybody to download same and share with their network of contacts across the world to spread the message of the positive enterprise environment in County Carlow”.
