Council welcomes MSD development and jobs announcement in County Carlow

 

Carlow County Council has welcomed the announcement today (16th October 2018) by US pharmaceutical company MSD, of its decision to develop a second manufacturing facility at its existing site in Carlow and create 170 new jobs. Currently employing over 400 staff, MSD Carlow opened in 2008 as MSD’s first vaccines facility outside of the US. 

Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council commenting on the announcement said "We as elected members welcome this announcement for County Carlow, which shows that our FDI companies continue to have confidence in the opportunity that County Carlow presents.” O’Donoghue continued to say “the importance of development of high skilled jobs, such as the project announced today, makes Carlow a regional growth hub which provides opportunities for graduates and skills professionals”.  

Kathleen Holohan, Chief Executive, Carlow County Council, said the news "was a significant sign of confidence in the Carlow marketplace, that offers companies a significant development opportunity location to start, develop and grow new projects.” Holohan continued to say "This announcement by MSD will help, not just by growing jobs, but also by increasing the awareness of County Carlow internationally as a location of choice”

 Holohan concluded by saying  that  "Carlow County Council is committed to further developing and expanding its working relationship with regional development agencies such as Enterprise Ireland and the IDA and later in 2018 will launch a new business investment brand”.
