Carlow County Council has welcomed the announcement today (15th February 2016) by US pharmaceutical company MSD, of its decision to create 110 new jobs at its Carlow facility, which is the company's only standalone vaccine and biologics facility outside the US.

Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Charlie Murphy, said the announcement "will help to build confidence in County Carlow as a location for FDI  companies which are key employers in the County."

Kathleen Holohan, Chief Executive, Carlow County Council, said the news "sends a positive message" to other multinational and indigenous firms who are considering investing in County Carlow or expanding their existing operations in the wider South East Region.

Holohan commented that "This announcement by MSD compliments the Council's ongoing implementation of the Local Enterprise Strategy, which has a clear focus on the continued multi-agency efforts to promote County Carlow’s growing status as an attractive location for investment".

Holohan concluded by saying that  "Carlow County Council is committed to further developing and expanding its working relationship with regional development agencies such as Enterprise Ireland and the IDA. Such a collaborative approach is key to creating new employment opportunities in County Carlow and attracting additional investments into the wider region”.
