Duckett's Grove Christmas Food and Craft Fair 3rd December 2017

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …………

On Sunday December 3rd the historic surroundings of Duckett’s Grove Historic House and Estate will be transformed into Carlow’s very own Winter Wonderland when it hosts its ever popular Christmas Food and Craft Fair. An array of festive activities will be available to entertain and delight all the family.

The magic and fun of Christmas can be enjoyed in this unique historic setting, which was formerly at the centre of an extensive estate that has dominated the Carlow landscape for over 300 years. A magical grotto of traditional Christmas activities showcasing the best of Carlow including craft, food and musical entertainment awaits all visitors in the courtyard area adjacent to the main house. Featuring ceramics and knitwear, art, jewellery, embroidery, Christmas cards and decorations, this fair is guaranteed to appeal to anybody seeking a special gift or those who just want to browse and soak up the Christmas atmosphere. Not to forget, mistletoe, Christmas plants and wreaths, all produced locally, will also be in supply. On the food front there will be a plentiful choice of festive fare including cakes, puddings and pies, seasonal fruit tarts, jams, chutneys and hampers. Teas, coffees and light snacks are also available and will keep hunger and thirst at bay throughout the day.

And of course for the kiddies …Santa Claus is coming to town….there will be a Santa Grotto and a complimentary surprise for every child, children’s face painting, Rodeo Reindeer and a giant snow globe to capture those special family moments. Make and do workshops throughout the day will allow children to create their very own Christmas decorations and bring them home for their tree. Festive storytelling for the little ones takes place at 2pm and 4pm. A live nativity scene with Wooly Farm featuring sheep, donkeys, goats and cows is guaranteed to create a special Christmas atmosphere. A petting area with rabbits, poultry and lots more is also available. Live musical entertainment takes place throughout the day.

In keeping with the history of the estate, traditional weaving, blacksmith and woodturning demonstrations are on offer together with a falconry display of owls, hawks and birds of prey, which are sure to delight young and old.
