Free carparking for Christmas Retail and Festive Experience

Carlow County Council has announced details of its new customer friendly parking arrangements for the Christmas Season 2015. As part of Christmas in Carlow, which is a county wide programme, with over 50 events to make County Carlow a Festive Family fiesta for all, Carlow County Council is supporting the retail community by providing free carparking spaces from 8.30am to 11.00am and 3pm to 6.30pm in all Pay and Display Parking Zones in Carlow Town for the month of December.   Free carparking will also be provided in carparks at the Town Hall, Bus Park, Green Bank Road and VISUAL for the period 5th December to 24th December.

This incentive is the latest support for the retail community by the Council, who have been working with Carlow Tourism, County Carlow Chamber and the Business Community, to make this Christmas one to remember, with a variety of community and business events across the festive season, designed to put Carlow on the map as a destination of choice for families across the South East.

Yvonne Jones on behalf of County Carlow Chamber and Chairperson of the Christmas in Carlow Committee said , “Christmas in Carlow 2015 has been a fantastic example of how the business community and the local authority can work together to ensure a positive opportunity for all during the festive season”.

The Chamber is anxious to promote the concept of shopping local and are appealing to local residents to support all of the local retail shops who offer an excellent service to their customers throughout the year.

Welcoming the Christmas in Carlow Programme, Cathaoirleach Charlie Murphy said “The introduction of this free parking scheme will be very much welcomed by both local retailers and the public alike. Murphy continued to say “The Christmas lights displays and the comprehensive Christmas In Carlow programme, will further help to create a festive atmosphere and enhance the overall shopping experience for all across County Carlow.” He concluded by urging shoppers throughout County Carlow to “buy local” this Christmas, declaring that by supporting local businesses they are “helping to sustain employment within the community”.
