IDA Ireland Appoints Brendan McDonald as new South East Regional Manager

Thursday 27th April 2017 - IDA Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Brendan McDonald as Regional Manager, South East Region with effect from May 8th 2017.  Brendan is taking up the position previously occupied by Anne-Marie Tierney Le Roux, following her recent appointment as Head of Regional Development for IDA Ireland.

Brendan, a native of Killeen, Co Laois will be responsible for driving new foreign direct investment to the South East Region (Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Tipperary) under IDA Ireland’s Strategy Winning 2015-2019, working with existing clients with operations in the Region as well as engaging with key stakeholders across the enterprise ecosystem in the Region.

Companies that have announced investment in the South East region in 2017 alone include: RedHat (60 jobs in Waterford) Lighthouse Studios (140 jobs in Kilkenny).

Brendan qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and practiced extensively in a private law firm in the areas of Commercial Property, Litigation, Employment Law and Court Prosecution and Defence.  Brendan subsequently joined IDA Ireland in 2012 as a Commercial Property Solicitor and worked in the Commercial Property Division of IDA Ireland.   Immediately prior to being appointed South East Regional Manager, Brendan worked as the IDA West Regional Executive from 2015 promoting foreign direct investment and IDA’s regional development agenda in the West Region which consists of counties Galway, Roscommon and Mayo.

Brendan graduated with a LLB - Bachelor of Laws & European Studies from the University of Limerick in 2003 and also holds Diplomas from The Law Society of Ireland in Legal French (Code Civil et Commerce) and Environment & Planning Law, as well as a Diploma in International Business Development from the Irish Management Institute.
