A new programme is being offered by the Local Enterprise Office Carlow which aims at helping SME’s deliver actual improvements to the efficiency and profitability of the business.

The programme was developed in response to findings that there was potential for SMEs to increase their awareness and capacity to grow their business by developing their own management capacity and improve their understanding of how competitive their business is and its potential to grow.

According to Kieran Comerford, Head of Enterprise at the Carlow County Council – Local Enterprise Office, “The main aim of this course is to give SME’s the confidence and skills to effectively grow and develop their business whilst also getting one-to-one advice from Management Guru Blaise Brosnan. Blaise Brosnan has a unique blend of practical top management experience gained over 25 years in his capacity as Chief Executive of a well-known national business and later as business adviser to a range of Irish business types. In addition to this, he has gained further National and International experience, having successfully completed a range of projects in Ireland, US, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and in Russia.

“Managers within SMEs tend to be very expert in their chosen field of work, but – because of the nature of how SMEs develop – they may not necessarily have management expertise to develop and grow,” he said.  “This programme is targeted at owner/managers of small businesses who are interested in developing their business”.

Comerford continued to say “This course is primarily aimed at SMEs who are at development stage and want to increase their confidence and enhance their understanding of how their business can grow”.

The programme commences on Tuesday 12th April 2016 at 7.30am in Enterprise House and over a period of 15 weeks, participants will be taken through all of the fundamentals of good management practice. In addition to the workshops, participants will also benefit from a one-to-one mentoring service. The cost to SMEs of participating in the “Management Development” programme is €250 per person which includes all training, mentoring, course materials, and refreshments.
