Opportunity for community and business groups for EU funding

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2019

The purpose of the programme is to support Community Groups, Business Development Groups, Education and Research Bodies to gain a better insight into European affairs and understand the various funding mechanisms available. The aim is to create a more effective network in County Carlow of skilled personnel adept at leading and becoming part of EU funding applications.

Who should attend:

Representatives from Community & Voluntary Groups interested in EU Funding, Project Development Staff, Senior Management and those who wish to gain a better understanding of EU funding.

Commitment:

Four days in total including a two day visit to Brussels and the EU Institutions.

About the Diploma

Delivered by the European Institute of Public Relations and in association with the Leuven Institute the accredited Diploma will include:

  • The architecture of the European Union
  • Partnership building and networking
  • EU communication strategies
  • Understanding EU Regional Policy
  •  Overview of EU funding programmes

Course includes:

  • Introductory Workshop
  • Mandatory two-day programme visit to Brussels

Course Delivery is by blended learning including classroom based lectures & talks together with the programme visit to Brussels.

Timetable:

 CARLOW Day 1: Monday 21st October 2019- 9.30am-5.00pm

  • Session 1: The EU. How it works, EU Institutions, roles and relevance
  • Session 2: Funding and application process

BELGIUM Day 2 & 3: Tuesday 12th - Thursday 14th November

Day 1: Depart Dublin Monday (12th November 2019) afternoon (departure flight 16:30) on group basis to arrive Zaventem Airport, Brussels. Transfer to Leuven by arranged transport. Upon arrival complete registration and check in. (Free time).

Day 2: Breakfast. Series of talks to be held at the Institute throughout the day. Dinner that evening.

Day 3: Breakfast. Depart Leuven by train to arrive in Brussels. The day will consist of visitations to EU Institutions and talks: EU Parliament, EU Commission, Committee of the Regions. Transfer to Zaventem Airport, Brussels by arranged transport for evening flight.

CARLOW Day 4: 25th November 2019 - 2-3 Hour Review & Learning Session

Carlow County Council will subsidise the cost of the programme for County Carlow participants. Community Groups nominating parties must be part of the PPN. Cost per participant of €300 per participant for volunteer/business representatives/community and voluntary group nominations and €1,200 euros for professional development staff.

Closing date for submissions – Wednesday 11th September 2019

The programme fee includes:

  • 2 days training in Ireland (including lunch)
  • Flights
  • Single room occupancy for two nights per attendee
  • Transport to and from airport on group basis in Brussels
  • Dinner hosted by the European Institute of Communications ‘Candidates Dinner’ - (Alcohol not included).
  • Speakers fees
  • European Institute of Communications representative throughout
  • Certification and accreditation of course programme. Each candidate will be required to complete an agreed assignment

Each applicant to register on the programme automatically becomes a student member of the European Institute of Communications and upon successful completion of the programme will then become full members of the Institute.
