Partnership approach to brighten up County Carlow’s Streets

45 premises around the County have availed of the opportunity to enhance their street by taking part in a paint scheme funded by Carlow County Council and the Town & Village Renewal Scheme.

The revised scheme was rolled out and provided an opportunity for community groups and business owners to receive a grant towards the cost of painting their streets which will contribute to an enhanced streetscape in their area. Grants totalling €22,000 were awarded recently and premises will be given a fresh look during the coming months.

Deputy Chief Executive of Carlow County Council , Dan McInerney commented that “the scheme was designed to give a short-term boost to the community and business sector and an opportunity to work in partnership in order to improve the streetscape in their local area” he continued to say “Carlow County Council is keen to put in place supports that improve the appearance of both occupied and derelict commercial premises in our towns and villages, this in turn will enhance the attractiveness of County Carlow as a business location and help generate economic activity”.
