Partnership approach will result in greater resources for Rural Development

“A partnership approach will result in greater resources for development of Towns & Villages and result in greater economic prosperity for all” was the key message from the executive of Carlow County Council at the Town & Village briefing session which kicked off the delivery process of over €900k worth of projects in 11 communities under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme.

Over 70 individuals representing business and community interests from across County Carlow were briefed at an event in Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow on the delivery of over 50 different types of projects from community CCTV, New Festivals, Tourism Product Development, Trail, Enterprise Hubs to name just a few.

Speaking about the projects, Kathleen Holohan, Chief Executive of Carlow County Council said “we have been presented with a unique opportunity to develop our communities in a partnership approach utilising this funding and Carlow County Council is committed to the delivery of the Town & Village Renewal Scheme”. Holohan continued to say “Carlow County Council has established an in-house team with expertise in areas of planning, economic development, business support, tourism, procurement and community development to support this process and ensure that these projects are delivered on time and within budget”. Holohan concluded by saying “we in Carlow County Council see this process as not just an opportunity for delivery of projects in the short term but also the strategic development of new projects for potential future funding”
