The Age Friendly Business Recognition Programme Carlow

The Age Friendly Business Recognition Programme was run in the Seven Oaks Hotel on the 7th July 2015 and it was a great success. The overarching goal of the programme is that Ireland will be a great place to grow old.

Regional Development Consultant at Age Friendly Ireland, Shane Winters, travelled to Carlow to deliver a two-hour workshop for 20 local participating businesses. The workshop required a participant or “champion” from each company to be in attendance. The nominated champion then took part in the workshop and developed on skills and techniques necessary to make their business more age friendly.

Feedback was hugely positive with participants saying how they now understand how important good customer service is to older people. Over the next few weeks all businesses who attended the workshop will engage with older customers seeking feedback on how they can become a more Age Friendly Business. After which they will commit to three actions, they will receive a framed charter, a window sticker and become an Age Friendly Business member. There will also be more marketing initiatives put in place going forward including a brochure which will advertise Age Friendly Businesses.
