Budget Boost for Clare Enterprises

A total of €950.2m of Budget has been announced for the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, an increase of €79.2m(or 9.1%) above the 2018 allocation.

Included in this Budget is an allocation of an additional €5m to Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) nationwide, an increase of 22% on 2018, to bring total capital funding for 2019 to €27.5m.

This funding will allow Local Enterprise Office Clare, as part of Clare County Council and in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland, to continue to drive local enterprise and regional growth, get Clare businesses Brexit-Ready and boost innovation across the county.

Some key benefits to Local Clare Enterprises include:

  • €300m long-term Future Growth Loan Scheme: 40% of which has been earmarked for agri-food sector businesses.
  • €8m extra for Brexit staffing and supports across enterprise and regulatory agencies; including a customs training programme for exporters and importers in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland.
  • Doubling Retail Online Pilot Scheme to €1.25m to support retail businesses to strengthen their online offering.
  • €1m additional funding for InterTrade Ireland, to support SMEs with cross-border trading.
  • A new round of €175m for Seed and Venture Capital Fund;
  • €5m Competitive Funding for Local Enterprise Offices;
  • €2.75m for SMEs Regional Innovation and Technology Clusters Programme;
  • €1.8m for Design Craft Council of Ireland;
  • €20m for Phase 1 of Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund to transform business.
