Winners announced at County Enterprise Awards

Local Enterprise Office confirms name of company that will represent Clare at National Enterprise Awards in May

Small businesses from Shannon and Sixmilebridge were the big winners at this year’s County Enterprise Awards, organised by Local Enterprise Office Clare to celebrate Local Enterprise Week.

The top prize of €2,000 went to Core Optimisation in Shannon, who will represent the county at the annual National Enterprise Awards in Dublin this May.

The runner up at the awards ceremony, which was held at the Old Ground Hotel, was Clubify, Sixmilebridge.

The overall winner Core Optimisation is a SEO & Digital Marketing Agency and specialise in growing online revenue primarily in the hospitality sector.

Having now reached the final of the National Enterprise Awards in May, Core Optimisation will be competing against 30 other companies from every local authority area for a share of the €40,000 prize fund across thirteen categories.

Speaking at the ceremony, Padraic Mc Elwee, Head of Enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Clare congratulated the local entrepreneurs, saying: “Caroline Dunlea and David Brett are very worthy winners of this major enterprise award, in recognition of what they have achieved here in the county. Because of their drive and determination, the company already employs 5 full time employees and 1 contract employee and plans to expand into the UK market in the very near future.”

4 other local businesses were also shortlisted this year, and they were Shadetech, Newmarket-on-Fergus, John Slattery Hygienic Applications, Tulla, Wicked Wholefoods, Killaloe and BackBaller, Shannon.

clubify picture with Pat Dowling Among the special guests at the ceremony were, Pat Dowling, Chief Executive of Clare County Council and Cllr Bill Chambers, Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council.

The awards were just one of the many highlights of Local Enterprise Week, which started on 5th March. All over the country, the 31 Local Enterprise Offices have been jointly running over 380 events aimed at start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses in their area, to mark the week.
