Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County’s Best Young Entrepreneurs Win €50,000 Investment - 30th November 2016

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown’s best young entrepreneurs have been announced at the County Final of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) competition 2016, which took place in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire on 30th of November 2016. 

Best Established Business Winner and Overall winner was Ciara Clancy, founder of Beats Medical in Sandyford. Ciara won an investment fund from the Local Enterprise Office worth €15,000 for this award. Beats Medical is an app that enables people with Parkinson’s to take greater control of their condition. Ciara also won the category for Best Established Business and an investment fund from the Local Enterprise Office worth €15,000.

Best Start-Up Winner was Gianni Clifford (25) founder of Fillit in Dún Laoghaire. Gianni was awarded €15,000 investment for his Dún Laoghaire-based company. Fillit is an online platform that connects people with spaces.

Best Business Idea Winner was Aidan Kilgannon (32) of AK Rock in Stillorgan. Aidan won €7,000 investment support turning his Business Idea AK Rock into reality. AK Rock is a personal fitness product that everyone will want to use so watch this space!!

All three category winners will now represent Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County at the Dublin Regional Finals in January 2017. 

This year IBYE awarded runners-up in Idea, Startup and Established Category, sharing an investment of €13,000. They were: Runner-Up of Best Business Idea: Grace O'Rourke (27) of óR Quine Equestrian, Runner-Up of Best Start-up Business: Caolan Cullen (23) of Arctic Stone Ice-Cream, Runner-Up Best Established Business: Cora Murphy (32) of The Care Team.
