How to Time Your Fundraising

The session will be a provoking conversation around the timing of fundraising and whether or not you should fundraise at all to grow. It is aimed at founders who are struggling with these questions and want the space to explore it further

Paul from Snapfix has recently raised €1.75m to focus on the US market, Denise raised and exited Way2Pay, while Brendan has scaled organically to 61 employees and is scaling rapidly.

We’ll be having an open discussion with our panellists around fundraising and the alternative route of bootstrapping.

There will be time for Q&A throughout the session.

  • Paul McCarthy, Snapfix CEO & Co-Founder

Over 25 years in software design and development, project management and solution development, internationally (including 10 years in New York, as well as a number of years in London, Australia and Germany).  Clients included SONY, ABC, Dun & Bradstreet and DeTeMobile. In parallel, Paul has over 25 years in property development and building management (originally part of a family business). Honours Degree in Computer Science, University College Cork (UCC).
Paul, as founder of the business, is bringing both the software and building experience to Snapfix, which has recently completed a €1.75m funding round.

  • Denise O'Grady is a mentor and business partner in Enterprise Ireland, working with several startups and commercialization projects nationwide. She is a serial entrepreneur in Ed-tech & Fin-tech and has built and scaled three companies to date. In her most recent venture Way2Pay, she raised €1mill in investment and brought the company on a journey from digital start up, through an intensive growth process, scaling both in Ireland and the UK. She successfully exited this company when Way2Pay was sold to Evo Payments in 2019.

  • Brendan Kiely is CEO & Co-Founder at ThinScale Technology and with his co founder has built the company to 61 employees without having raised capital. ThinScale delivers Digital Transformation and VDI implementation solution in 22 countries. They are located in the CUBE in IADT and are a Deloitte Fast50 (4th Ireland) and Fast500 (187th EMEA) winner.

Brendan is a fantastic communicator and is passionate about sharing ThinScale’s bootstrapping story which will be though provoking for any founder considering or even those who have not considered bootstrapping as an option for scaling.

This event is free as part of Local Enterprise Week 2022.
