The Lord Mayor of Dublin Caroline Conroy opened the Dublin Celebrating Women in Business event that took place on 1st February as part of the five day Dublin wide Brigit 2023 festival.  More than 50 women in business gathered in the The Guinness Enterprise Centre in Dublin 8 for this event organised by the Local Enterprise Office Dublin City Women in Business Network in partnership with Dublin City Council.

The event aimed to celebrate and encourage entrepreneurship among women and featured a panel discussion led by entrepreneur and broadcaster Áine Kerr and four women with inspiring business stories to tell: Anita Donoghue of Annutri, Daisy Mauhay of The Nightingale Placement Agency, Madeleine Blaine of The Collective and Lucy O'Reilly of Designs for Growth.  Aine expertly led the entrepreneurs through their own business stories, who inspired them, their challenges and advice for others starting out. All speakers encouraged women to consider the benefits of starting your own business, especially if you have the opportunity to work in an area you feel passionate about, and to have flexibility in when and where you work but they also emphasised the need for hard work and resilience.  The discussion was followed by networking.

The Lord Mayor commented:

The Brigit 2023 Festival is a way for Dublin City to celebrate its women past and present and this event is a great opportunity to recognise and encourage the many women in business who are innovating and contributing to the business and social life of the city
