175 new jobs to be created in Fingal with €470,000 grant investment

A €470,000 cash injection has been announced by the Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) through a number of its grant schemes aimed at supporting 56 small and start-up businesses

Fingal LEO has announced that 56 small businesses and start-ups have been approved for financial support with a total of 175 new jobs planned over the coming years in some of these businesses.

The latest funding figures announced by Fingal LEO last Thursday will also result in significant additional spending in the local economy, boosting the local supply chain. 

Announcing the latest LEO investment of over €470,000 in small businesses in the first half of this year, LEO Fingal stated that 2019 has seen significant growth in employment in the small business sector.

Many diverse sectors feature among the approved businesses including Industrial engineering suppliers; water monitoring and leakage detection systems; artificial intelligence project cost monitoring services for the construction industry; education technology applications to help people with dyslexia; online meal plans and ingredient delivery services; and hurley manufacturing among others.

Presenting certificates to each of the grant approved businesses, Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien, Mayor of Fingal, commented: “I am delighted to see so many of our local businesses start-up and grow.  Our economy continues to perform well and the contribution of small businesses in terms of local job creation is very significant. LEO Fingal is at the forefront of ensuring that small businesses are given the environment they need to flourish”.

Announcing the latest grant approvals for the Fingal businesses, AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said: “I wish to congratulate all the entrepreneurs and businesses present today. The Council, through our Local Enterprise Office, aims to ensure a budding entrepreneurial culture in the county and to assist job creation.”

Oisin Geoghegan,Chair of the LEO Network and Head of Enterprise in Fingal, further added:  “Iencourage allprospective entrepreneurs, and existing local small businesses, to engage with their LEO and avail of supports and resources available. In addition to funding grants, LEO Fingal offers plenty of industry-leading management training and innovative initiatives such as Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur and Brexit Customs workshops”.
