Programme Overview

This programme is designed to enable participants to develop their understanding of the legal taxation requirement for a small business.  Participants will gain a working knowledge of Taxation issues and the ways in which to manage accounts and prepare tax accounts. They will be shown the correct assessment forms required by the Revenue and be guided through their completion. 

Programme Objectives

  • Be introduced to the concept of business taxation and the correct method of accounting for same

  • Understand Business Taxation i.e. Corporation Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Income Tax, Self-Assessment, Deferred Tax, Thresholds and Exemptions

    The programme will provide training in the following areas:

     

  • Reporting requirements of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships

  • The Self-Assessment system 

  • Preliminary Tax – What & When to Pay

  • Capital Allowances/chargeable gains

  • The PRSI System

  • The completion of an Income Tax return

  • Personal Allowances and Rate Bands 

  • Tax and PRSI Liability

  • The VAT System - Calculating VAT and preparing VAT Returns

  • Important Dates

  • Contact Details of Key Agencies

    Delivery Methodology: Group work, workbook exercises with a strong emphasis on practical application throughout. This course is extremely interactive providing participants with the opportunity to prepare and practice their skills
