Galway in National Young Entrepreneurs Final

The national final of Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur Awards competition will take place on 22nd of April with Galway finalist, Brendan Boland representing the city and county at Google HQ in Dublin.

Exciting New Orthopaedic Implant

Brendan of Loci Orthopaedics is a finalist in the Best Business Idea category for his ground-breaking development of an exciting new orthopaedic implant for the treatment of thumb base joint arthritis. This is a common condition affecting hand mobility and function. Brendan says treatments currently available are not as effective as his newly-developed implant. “Current treatments are sub-optimal. We provide a solution that is smarter, safer and simpler than any other surgical treatment option.”

Showcasing Innovative Business Ideas

Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) Competition is a national initiative which showcases innovative new and established business ideas. It is run by Local Enterprise Offices in each county. Brendan addresses the importance of LEO support for new business ideas. “IBYE and the Local Enterprise Office Galway have provided fantastic assistance in the form of mentoring, pitching preparation, and financial support. IBYE not only makes one take a step back and review the business case but then supports and guides any changes or improvements to the case that have to be made.”
