iBYE Press Release

50K Fund Available for Galway Startups

The Local Enterprise Office Galway has launched a €50,000 investment prize-fund for three local winners in a search to find Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE), with a total investment fund of €2 million available nationally.

Aimed at those aged between 18 and 30, the competition is an integral part of the Local Enterprise Office Galway (LEO) to support and recognise young Galway entrepreneurs as part of this national competition. The prizes worth €50,000 can be used to create new businesses and help existing businesses strengthen their product offerings to the Irish and export markets. Finalists also benefit from intensive business bootcamps and mentoring programmes through LEO.

Breda Fox, Head of Enterprise for the LEO said:

“This is a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs in Galway city and county to make their mark in Galway and their respective marketplaces. In 2014 two Galway young entrepreneurs represented Galway at the national finals in Dublin. Dara Lynch from Twizt Hydration represented Galway in the Best New Idea category and Pat Divilly from Pat Divilly Fitness represented Galway in the Best Established Business category. Both had already won a combined sum of EUR30,000 in the Galway finals plus intensive mentoring and participation in business bootcamps”.

Ms Fox added

“Twizt Hydration and Pat Divilly Fitness are great examples of young business people who are making a mark in Galway and their respective marketplaces. We now want to find more young Galway entrepreneurs under 30 to support and develop their ideas and businesses. Through the IBYE competition we can support these individuals and their companies to carve out and develop a niche for their products here in Ireland while slowly developing markets in the UK, Europe and the US”.

All young people with a start-up or a business idea can apply through the Local Enterprise Office Galway before 31st July. The competition is free and can be entered directly on www.ibye.ie.
