Creative Makers to host pop-up shop at the Cornstore

 Creative makers pop up shop

Creative Makers Galway will present a pop-up shop throughout the Galway International Arts Festival at the mall in the Cornstore from 17-29 July. Following on from the successful 2017 pop-up shop, this will also feature work by established designers and makers for the duration of the Festival.

There will be a broad range of beautiful products and gifts on offer including pottery, woodturning, soaps, handbags, candles, ceramics, jewellery, art, prints, greeting cards, wooden crafts, quilts, notebooks, calendars and clothing.

The pop up shop will feature a host of creative designers including Ambrose & Brid O'Halloran Woodturning, Berina Kelly Jewellery, Ciara O'Neill, Fiain, Glassix, Lorraine Fletcher Art Studio, Maysonbrook, Pat Flannery Artist, Peppermint, QBU, The Owl Tree, Scents of Galway and Virtue Shine.

Annie Dack is co-ordinating the shop for LEO Galway "This is an amazing opportunity for the Makers themselves to showcase their work publicly, to get customer feedback, make sales and grow their customer base. It is also a great opportunity for the general public in Galway and beyond to see and purchase work that is not only made locally but is excellently crafted and designed. This Creative Makers Galway Pop-up Shop also adds to the richness of what Galway has to offer, this is the kind of creativity that visitors expect to find in Galway"

You will have the opportunity to view and purchase directly from these talented makers over two weeks, and to hear the inspiration behind their creations. It is a wonderful, informal showcase for new collections and pieces, whilst also providing an insight into the progress and processes achieved by each designer.

Creative Makers Galway was established in 2016 by those who had participated in the Design & Craft Council of Ireland’s Building Craft & Design Enterprise programme, which ran in Galway that year for the first time outside Dublin. As a result of discussions held during workshops from the programme, all of the graduates expressed a desire to showcase their work locally, with the support of the LEO Galway, Creative Ireland and the DCCoI.

Joanna Cronin, owner, Peppermint Jewellery returns to the shop again this year. "I am thrilled to be taking part again, in this my third year, since I originally did the Building Craft & Design Enterprise Programme with the Galway LEO and DCCoI.  It is such a fantastic opportunity for those of us involved to showcase some of the amazing creative talent from Galway, and as small business owners, it's an even greater opportunity to connect with our customers and showcase new products.  It is a huge benefit to us and each year we learn more. We also gain experience from a retail environment in a busy thriving time in Galway."
