Local Enterprise Week 2020: Helping you unlock the full potential of your business!

Local Enterprise Office Galway is delighted to announce that Local Enterprise Week 2020 will take place from Monday 2nd - Friday 6th March, with a series of local business events and initiatives scheduled to take place over the week.

Whether you’re looking to transform a business idea into reality, expand an existing venture, access new markets, cut costs and boost productivity, sort out finance or create stronger branding – LEO Galway’s catalogue of events has it all covered.

Slash costs, grow productivity and boost profits

A major cornerstone of Local Enterprise Week in Galway is a free city event which aims to help local businesses slash costs and boost their profits.

‘Improve your Productivity’ is a workshop that will focus on the hugely successful Lean for Micro programme, that has already helped 32 Galway businesses save a staggering €3.1m since 2016.

Next month’s event is an evening workshop on Lean for Micro that will focus on the core principles of the programme and how local businesses can get involved, boost productivity and post greater profits!

It’ll also feature a panel discussion of regional enterprise leaders who have successfully applied lean principles to their business – as well as experts from Enterprise Ireland.

The event is completely free and will take place at the Druid Theatre on Tuesday March 3rd at 6pm; registration is required.

Get one step ahead by creating a strong brand strategy

As part of Local Enterprise Week, LEO Galway has arranged a workshop to help you craft a strong brand image and drive increased growth.

Branding is one of the most crucial elements to the success of any business in an increasingly competitive market. A strong brand strategy can greatly strengthen your enterprise and make it more identifiable to existing customers and potential clients.

Branding is more than just a logo or slogan. It can be reflected in everything your business does, from the services or goods it offers, to the customer service behind them, or the advertising and marketing strategies in place.

LEO Galway has arranged a special workshop that will guide businesses through the concept, ensure they understand the branding process and help their venture unlock its full market potential.

‘Branding your Business’ will cover a wide range of critical topics – including understanding branding, defining brand values, crafting a brand ad vision and branding across multiple platforms.

The event is just €30 and will take place at the Menlo Park Hotel on Wednesday March 4th at 9.30am; registration is required.

Start a new food business or grow an existing venture

Are you exploring the viability of a new food idea, considering starting a food business, or looking to expand an existing food venture?

LEO Galway has arranged a unique one day workshop that will act as a roadmap to success, covering the fundamentals of starting or scaling a food business.

Experts will be on-hand to help you along every step of the way – from examining every aspect of your product, to the production process and the various methods of distribution.

Other critical topics to be explored include the importance of creating and promoting a strong brand image and understanding how to effectively market your product.

Tickets are just €30 and the event will take place at the BIA Accelerate Hub at the Mellows Campus in Athenry on Thursday March 5th at 9.30am; registration is required.

Cyber Security – the important of securing your online presence

Regardless of the size of your business, maintaining online security is a crucial element of operation.

Cyber security is the protection of your systems from malicious attackers, who may seek to steal electronic information, damage your reputation or disrupt your activities.

As part of Local Enterprise Week, LEO Galway has organised a free practical workshop that will help ensure your business is putting its best foot forward in the digital realm!

Experts at the event will cover topics such as email and web filtering, data protection, mobile and social media security, staff training and general cyber security.

Speakers will include Managing Director of ISAS, Conor Flynn; Stephen Brennan of Cyber Risk Aware; Conor Madden of Titan HQ and Data Protection Officer with Galway City Council, Fiona Kearney.

The hands-on workshop is completely free and will take place at the Portershed at Eyre Square on Wednesday March 4th at 6pm; registration is required.

Doing business in Galway 2020 and beyond

As part of Local Enterprise Week, a free city seminar will brief local businesses on the supports available to help them get established, expand their venture and access new markets.

While there is a wide range of support agencies and organisations in place across Galway, it can often be difficult – even daunting – to know where to find these supports or how to avail of them.

The LEO Galway enterprise seminar will act as a one-stop-shop for all the support agencies and organisations available to employers.

Experts will be available to advise on the grants, training, financial supports and mentoring available in your area – and how you can put your best foot forward as we head into 2020 and beyond.

The seminar is completely free and will take place at the Intreo Office at Fairgreen Road on Thursday March 5th at 5.30pm; registration is required.

SME Energy Training - Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland

If you’re interested in saving your business energy and money, this free workshop will help you identify, plan and implement a savings project.

The free management workshop is based on Energy MAP – one of the most popular and successful energy training programmes available to businesses across Ireland.

It’ll help businesses identify where savings can be made and guide them in developing a structured plan towards energy management that could result in significant savings.

The free workshop will take place at County Hall, Prospect Hill, on Wednesday March 4th at 9am; registration is required.
