Grow Your Business Programme

This series of 8 weekly 2.5-hour sessions is designed for business owner/managers who have a real desire to grow their business. It encompasses a mixture of strategic planning tools along with a focus on some of the common areas impeding growth on a day-to-day basis. Participants should be prepared to complete a number of exercises for their own business and in addition to the 8 sessions there will be some workshops designed to help participants through this work. Finally, participants will also spend time 1 to 1 with one of the facilitators.  The programme will have a mixture of in-person and online delivery.

The 2 facilitators providing this course have previously successfully grown their own business and today they work with a range of business who have a focus on sustainable business growth.  As a result, this programme will have a real practical focus.

  • Businesses that are struggling to grow beyond a certain size/ceiling
  • “No one in the team can really do it as well as I will”
  • “I have a long list of urgent tasks that I can never seem to complete”

  • Not having a clear picture of how all of the aspects of the business hang together
  • A lack of tools to help manage price and margin, the sales process or longer-term objective management.

 

Modules

Module 1 – Introduction to Strategic Planning and understanding why businesses Fail to Grow, or simply fail

To provide a broad view of the importance of strategic planning to the success of any business and the steps involved.  Start to consider why your business exists and where you would like it to be in 3-5 years’ time.  Explore why some businesses struggle and how this might relate to your business and feed into your strategic plan.

Module 2 –An Introduction to Lean Start up and Lean Business Operations

Lean Start-up teaches us how everything in business should be a response to customer needs (not what we think!), and how we don’t need to have all the answers up front in order to grow a business, product or idea.

Lean Operations will explain how we can operate our business processes quicker, better, cheaper and with less waste and we’ll explore additional supports available to make this a reality.

Module 3 – The Place of Marketing within your Business Growth Plan

Helping you to understand the importance of marketing within the overall business model, with particular emphasis on your customer value proposition and telling your story, through various marketing tools.

Module 4 – Pricing your product for growth

We will look at a number of pricing models for your product or service, paying particular attention to Value Based Pricing and explore how pricing feeds into your margin and breakeven analysis. We will also cover other pricing related topics such as the pros and cons of Discounting. 

Module 5 – Managing an effective Sales Process

Outlining the components, and the importance, of an effective Sales process.  Emphasising how selling is a Science and not an Art. Understanding your pipeline, buying influencers, and customer relationship management (CRM) tools.  

Module 6 – A better Understanding of Financial Management, Cash-flow and Sources of Funding

Touching on some of the most important aspects of good financial management, the importance of knowing your numbers, understanding financial statements, the importance of forecasting and reviewing financial performance, margin analysis and cashflow management.

Module 7 – How to Build & Manage a Team and be more Personally Effective

To help participants to focus on some practical areas where they can be more effective in their business, particularly in relation to their own time, and when to grow a team, through a mixture of trainer’s personal experiences and some external expert resources

Module 8 – Developing and Implementing your Business Growth Plan

Taking all the learnings from each of the previous modules, we will guide you through the process of how to identify the key Strategic Objectives necessary for you to achieve your growth goals and show you how to build these into an actionable plan.

The Programme consists of 8 training sessions and individual mentoring.

Successful applicants are expected to commit to attending all sessions.
