About the mentor

Niall McManus

Niall McManus is a geologist and mineral economist with 30 years global experience in raw materials and sustainability. Niall has worked in geotechnical investigation and site remediation in the construction sector. He has undertaken numerous post-graduate certificates and CDP training in circular economy and sustainable development from Delft, Wageningen, & Erasmus Universities in the Netherlands.

Since 2014 he has been an expert advisor to the European Commission for Societal Challenges, Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials. Working with multidisciplinary teams of experts from across Europe he has advised or €30 million of investment into technologies from concept level to pre-commercialisation for innovations within the circular economy.

Niall is mentor and coach for European Investment Community (EIC) funded start-ups through the EU Executive Agency for SMEs, and is on the steering group for developing the mentoring strategy for the EIC Greenhouse Gas (GHG) programme to contribute to the transition towards a carbon neutral Europe.

Niall is currently assisting a Scandinavian floating offshore wind developer and technology provider enter the Irish market in providing expertise on environmental compliance and social licence to operate in their site selection.
