CREDIT UNION SUPPORTS LOCAL PRINT BUSINESS
Perfecto Print is a signage and print company located on the Carlow Road just outside Kilkenny city. From there, proprietors Derek and Tracey Maher continue a family tradition of providing quality print services locally. Derek has worked in the print trade for 26 years having started out as a typesetter at the early age of 16 years.
Reminiscing about the print industry back in the late 1980’s he explains that “typesetting was a specialised skill which involved converting handwritten material into a structured typeset document using various fonts. He added that “Today traditional typesetters have been replaced by graphic designers who effectively typeset digitally”.
Six years ago, Derek and Tracey, who are from Kilkenny city, opened the doors of Perfecto Print. As the couple were both long term members of St. Canice’s Credit Union, it was the first place they thought of when it came to seeking funding to cover the cost of their first commercial high speed printer and guillotine.
Since its launch, the business has grown steadily and today the team also includes a printer, finisher and sign fitter. Of course growth brings with it the need for continuous technology upgrades and since taking out their original business loan Derek and Tracey have returned to St. Canice’s Credit Union for assistance with funding a replacement high-spec printer, and more recently, to help cover the costs of new sign-making equipment.
Perfecto Print offers a wide range of services including the print of wedding stationery, business brochures, vehicle graphics, large banners, signs and lots more.
