This course is aimed at providing a foundation for future training such as HACCP, food safety management and food supervision. The course will enable participants to complete the Environmental Health Officers Association Primary Course in Food Safety Certificate

This Course will run over two half days - Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th April from 9.30am-1.30pm.


Who is this course for:

This programme is designed for all food handlers, supervisors and chefs serving and producing food for public consumption.

The Primary Course in Food Safety, Level 2, (Environmental Health Association of Ireland accredited) is suitable for all direct food handlers or persons who need to ensure that food safety is not compromised. Completion of this training will arm participants with the knowledge to handle food in a safe and compliant manner.

Content:

The programme consists of a minimum of 8 hours (over 2 half days), including an examination of 1 hour’s duration. The core content of the programme consists of 8 sessions:

1. Food hygiene – why bother?
2. Food contamination;
3. Food delivery and storage;
4. Food preparation, cooking and service;
5. Personal hygiene;
6. Design and layout of food premises, pest control;
7. Cleaning;
8. Introduction to HACCP.

Outcomes: 

Participants will be meeting the requirement by law to be trained to a basic level of Food Safety and HACCP training when a food handler. Successful learners will receive a certificate from the Environmental Health Association of Ireland. This certificate is valid for 5 years.

Participants will attain the knowledge to work safely and confidently in a food environment. Participants will attain an understanding of best practice through all stages of food production, from delivery to service.

Certification received from successful completion of this programme will assist a learner attaining employment within the Food and Hospitality Industry whether in a café, hotel, restaurant, nursing home or childcare facility.

Particpants will upon successful completion receive an Environmental Health Association of Ireland Level 2 certificate which will last 5 years.
