Introduction

New for 2020, this short retail and foodservice support programme is designed to give your business expert advice and strategic focus in a COVID-19 recovery marketplace.  Most businesses have had a challenging start to 2020 and this programme is designed to share successful case studies from others, bring new learnings and challenge the road map ahead.

The retail and foodservice landscape has altered dramatically during the pandemic with the movement of more consumers online, restrictions about how business can be conducted and general consumer confusion.  The good news is that there are examples of consumer facing businesses “bucking the trend” and growing sales over this period.  This short programme is designed to share some winning advice and help pinpoint opportunity areas within your business.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of a three-hour early morning online seminar which will look at best practice COVID-19 related case studies and signpost winning ideas for your sector.    There will also be a section of this seminar dedicated to practical sales and marketing tips in a pandemic world.  The objective of this seminar is to learn from what others are doing and implement new ideas for your business.

Business Assessment/Training Session

Each participant will also receive a two hour 1:1 online business assessment session from retail and foodservice expert James Burke.  During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, James hosted a series of online workshops for more than 500 retailers and foodservice operators in regional clusters, which focused on early learnings emerging.  James has also been working privately with over 30 retailers and foodservice operators to devise recovery plans for their businesses.

This 1:1 session will facilitate customised training of each of the participants in response to their own individual needs. The session will include a detailed business analysis including, identification of growth opportunities, competitor analysis, opportunities to differentiate, management skillsets, customer service initiatives, etc.  Typically, business owners report on being more energised and focused on their business, after these online sessions.

Programme Outputs

On completion of the seminar and 1:1 assessment/training session, the participants will have in place the following

  • A comprehensive written action report detailing practical steps you will be able to take immediately to accelerate your business
  • You will be facilitated to stand back and take a more comprehensive approach to your business, and you will be challenged to think outside the box in this new COVID-19 world

Target Participants

This programme is targeted at the owner/manager of any business which is consumer facing e.g. retailers from all sectors, cafes, restaurant and foodservice outlets, beauty salons and hairdressers, gyms, opticians and other service providers, etc.
