Promoting Your Business at Food Markets

This full day programme will provide participants with a checklist and toolkit for them to be able to start selling their products at market.

For small producers, attendance at a farmers’ market or food fair represents a short window of opportunity to present produce direct to the consumer, to sell and the chance to develop relationships with existing and potential customers.

Most producers spend their days making wonderful products. Selling or business development is not normally a key activity.

At shows, it is important to attract visitors to the stall, present products well and then actually sell as much as possible while there.

It is also crucial to know how to deal with several people at one time, what to do when your stand is quiet, and when it is busy.

The planning is also important. The stand has to be planned; the stall, the display, pricing boards...You are creating a shop window for your products.

You may also attract some trade customers for the future.

Course Outcomes:

  • Greater trader confidence and improved sales and marketing skills 
  • Better Technical understanding of all legal requirements 
  • Busier stands 
  • More sales
