Press Release 12th January 2017
Practical Help to Navigate Brexit Conference
Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade, Dundalk Chamber, Louth Local Enterprise Office, Louth County Council and Newry, Mourne & Down District Council are hosting a major FREE event on Wednesday 7th February in the Carrickdale Hotel & Spa.
You will hear up-to-date insights on how to properly plan for Brexit from our Guest Speaker, Tánaiste and Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade Simon Coveney as well as tips and hints on how best to prepare to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible for businesses on both sides of the border when the UK departs the EU.
On the day, practical workshops on specific Brexit-related issues will be presented by industry specialists including VAT, Customs, Tax and Rules of Origin. Tips on how to prepare for the challenges that Brexit may throw at your business with a panel discussion on citizens, supply chain and currency with SME company experiences.
Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Councillor Roisin Mulgrew commented: "Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to co-host this event with local and cross-border partners in an area which will be most impacted by Brexit. The A1-M1 Economic Corridor represents a significant area on the island of Ireland and I would encourage businesses to attend in order to plan for the changes arising from Brexit."
Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Cllr. Colm Markey said; "Brexit is one of the most significant challenges facing business and our community in recent generations. Because of its potential impact it is critically important businesses start preparing for Brexit. I’m delighted that Louth County Council is co-hosting this informative event with our cross-border partners which will help businesses start their preparations.
