St. Paul’s Primary School Navan 6th class students scoop Enterprise Logo/Slogan Competition title!

St. Pauls

The Local Enterprise Office recently ran a pilot Enterprise Awareness Programme with Primary Schools in the Navan area.

The aim of the programme was to show the students that the very things they learn at school every day and their inherent abilities can make them a successful businessperson.

Benefits of the workshop provided in each school.

Students came to realise:

  • That they can run their own company.
  • That they are inherently creative and innovative
  • the importance of teamwork, being organised, how brainstorming helps solve problems, the need for a leader in a team, the need to complete tasks within a specified time.
  • where LEO Meath is and what it does
  • that the Student Enterprise Programme will give them a chance to run a company at second level school.

The programme was run as a pilot with Navan Primary Schools.  It proved hugely successful with 11 of the 12 schools in the area taking part.  As part of the initiative, the LEO ran a Logo/Slogan competition for students where students were asked to come up with a rhyming slogan and a logo to try and attract business to County Meath.  The winners were St. Paul’s Primary School with the slogan “Plant your Business Seed in Meath and You’ll Succeed”!

Lauren Gailey and Ethan Healy devised and produced the winning logo/slogan.

All four hundred and seventy five participants in the programme received a special certificate.  The next phase of the pilot (three Enterprise Development Workshops where students will come up with an idea and produce a product/service) will be rolled out shortly.  It is hoped that this will culminate in a display and Award Ceremony in June, 2018 where the class projects will be displayed and winners picked.
