Building Resilience: COVID-19 & Its Impacts on Women Entrepreneurs

Meet the contributors:

Linda Breathnach, Psychotherapist, Lecturer, Trainer & Supervisor understands the many challenges of female entrepreneurship. With 20 years' experience of working with couples, individuals and groups, Linda became self-employed 2 years ago and hasn’t looked back! More recently, her work has involved supporting employers in helping their employees get to grips with the Psychological and Emotional challenges that Covid-19 has brought. Linda is passionate about helping people build resilience, overcome their fears, set goals and reach their true potential. Her approach is always positive, inspiring and empowering.

Louise O'Flanagan is a Principal Engineer at Eirgrid, Louise is a Principal Engineer within the Infrastructure Office at EirGrid. In her role she is currently the programme manager for offshore wind developments in Ireland. Louise joined EirGrid in 2011, working predominately on delivering grid connections for renewable energy projects as well as interconnector projects. Prior to joining EirGrid, Louise worked for an engineering consultancy firm in both Ireland and UK. She is a Chartered Engineer, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree and Masters of Engineering Science Degree, both from UCD. Louise is also a busy mum of four young energetic boys; Kevin, Tom, Niall and James, and is currently working from home full time.

Shona McManus, CEO & Owner of Osborne Recruitment. Qualified to MBA, Shona McManus is a highly accomplished, respected and recognised global recruitment business leader. Since taking the reins of Osborne in April 2013, Shona’s innovative, authentic and purposeful leadership has resulted in the growth and transformation of Osborne into the multi-award winning international recruitment firm we know today.  Under her guidance the organisation has charged full steam ahead, increasing its footprint, turnover, profits and headcount tenfold over the past 7 years, adding numerous prestigious and industry recognised awards to its repertoire whilst leading the organisation to successfully help thousands of job seekers and employers in the recruitment process to ‘find the right person, for the right job, no compromise’. Shona will update us on The Illuminate programme which was originally developed by DKIT and The Mill Enterprise Hub identified a need to support existing female entrepreneurs in the North East Region.  DCU's Ryan Academy were invited to deliver the 12 week programme which runs from November 2nd to February 1st 2021.
