Food Producer Showcase

FoodProducersCo .Monaghan Chefs and buyers encouraged to attend Food Producer Showcase

It is a very exciting time for Food in Monaghan with many of our great producers and processors receiving top National and International Awards. As well has having a very significant impact on our local economy and employment opportunities, the availability of quality, locally produced products increasingly impacts on visitor experience, as consumers seek out locally and sustainably produced food and drinks. There is a move nationally to incorporate “Providence” and the story behind the food and its origins to inform consumers and to engage their interest in the produce on offer. With this in mind, many of Restaurants and Hotels are now displaying the origins of their ingredients, to enhance the visitor experience.

Monaghan LEO extends an invitation to all chefs and food buyers in Co. Monaghan to attend a Food Producer Showcase event in the Four Seasons Hotel on 18th of July from 9.30am-12.30pm. Twenty local food producers and growers will be showcasing their products to chefs, store managers and buyers. This Showcase event will provide a platform for these producers to do business with local retail and food service operators from the county.

On the day the Co. Monaghan Producers Directory will also be launched. This hard copy directory will be a useful resource by Hotels, Restaurateurs and Wholesalers to source Monaghan products. Within this directory purchasers can discover top quality local foods from craft beer to chocolate truffles, milk, yoghurt, ice creams, eggs, mushrooms, meats and baked goods - to name a few.

If you are in the hospitality business, this will be an ideal event for you to find new innovative products to add to your range. Visiting consumers and end users are also welcome to come along to learn more about the wide range of food related production which goes on in the county and which is such a very valuable contributor to our local economy.

This event is being led by LEO Monaghan and for further information contact Eilin Connolly at 047 71818.
