Monaghan firms encouraged to apply for €16.6m Innovation support

Monaghan LEO extends an invitation to Manufacturing and Internationally Traded firms to apply for a business development share-out of €16.6 million which has been made available to innovative businesses under the EU’s Interreg programme.

Head of Enterprise John McEntegart says, “Monaghan LEO fully recognises the very substantial improvements in productivity and profitability that can result from the application of innovation”. He continued, “In response to the challenge of BREXIT ahead, we are advocating businesses to become more competitive and innovative though embracing business development programmes such as “Co-Innovate”.

The Co-Innovate programme is designed to develop the innovation and research capacity of Co. Monaghan SME’s. In particular the programme is will help firms harness ideas to; work smarter, equip businesses for future challenges, add value, stand out from the competition and boost the bottom line, thus ensuring sustainability.

Companies that receive support at Co-Innovate workshops will benefit from one-to-one business assessments, aimed at helping them create a tailored delivery plan. Those firms , who go on to complete assessments, will be selected to take part in advanced programme supports. These advanced supports are designed to help develop detailed innovation delivery plans: bringing ideas to fruition.

These include:

  • Funding to unlock up to 10 days of bespoke consultancy advice, resulting in development of a targeted action plan.
  • Up to fifty per cent funding for a dedicated 12 month project manager post to deliver product or process innovation.
  • Up to fifty per cent funding for a business-to-business, collaborative R&D or product/service development project, with partners to be drawn from the other jurisdiction (for example, Rep of Ire company to partner with business in UK).
  • Participation in a sector specific R&I network which will bring together businesses, organisations or academic institutions from across Co-Innovate’s eligible regions.

A number of Co-Innovate workshops will be held in the Border Counties, NI and Western Scotland. Upcoming workshops include; 19th July- Sligo, 25th July- Donegal & 24th August – Monaghan.
