Businesses are now aware that part of their success is dependent on a consistent management of organisational and financial data with efficient information systems. According to Briege Quinn, Local Enterprise Office Monaghan, "The potential for a locally based business network to discuss IT related issues, share best practices and embed a culture of IT excellence is immense".

Monaghan Local Enterprise Office, in association with Monaghan IT Forum, have announced the launch of a new IT Business Network which is aimed to bring IT managers and service providers together to share their experiences and access expertise. "This Network will comprise of local companies who are willing to share their experiences and participate for the benefit of all businesses in the Network. The network will provide a safe and confidential environment, where topics such as IT security; email and data management and security; mobile device security and locally available supports", adds Briege Quinn.

The network, in a pilot phase for the next 12 months, will be facilitated by Mr. John Nealon of the Castleblayney based company - Data Protection Training and Auditing Services. Mr. Nealon outlined that he was delighted to be appointed as the network facilitator, adding, "While the network will be very much guided by the participants, it is felt felt that the knowledge will be shared between the companies through practical case studies, cyber security 'bite sizes', focused Q&A sessions and the addition of expert speakers to deliver presentations on particular IT issues".

While the network will be facilitated through a series of meetings and focused workshops, it is hoped that an IT security symposium would be held in the first half of 2020.

Mr. Nealon continued, "The key to the success of this network is for the local businesses to fully engage with it. In return for this participation, the businesses will recieve expert knowledge together with practical advice from fellow local businesses.
