The key issues faced by many small businesses when it comes to VAT is a lack of understanding of When to Register and HOW To Account for VAT. Businesses are required to register for VAT when the turnover of taxable goods or services exceeds the limit set by the Revenue Commissioners, however there are a number of seemingly confusing rules that must be followed to comply with VAT legislation, not to mention Brexit and it's future effects!! This upcoming course “ Introduction to VAT” will teach participants with the basic knowledge for small business, including how to register online and how to complete a VAT return online.

Topics to be covered in this 1 evening workshop include:

  • VAT registration & thresholds
  • Exempt and Zero- rated – the difference
  • Cash flow benefits to Cash receipts basis of Vat
  • Deductible and non- deductible Vat expenses
  • Cross border Vat issue pre/post Brexit
  • Record keeping and Penalties
  • Filing VAT returns

Learning tools used will include:

  • Powerpoint presentation 
  • Computers
  • Whiteboard

Each participant will complete a post-course evaluation form.
