Venue: The Ballybay Wetlands Centre, Clones Road, Ballybay

Guest Speaker: Fiona Flynn, Foresight Corporate Development

It is interesting to reflect that one of the main causes of misunderstandings and unwanted conflict in our lives and in the workplace is simply poor communications.
Assertive communications can be particularly difficult for women whose voices are frequently diminished, ignored and talked over. And it’s not just me! Here’s an interesting article I came across in an old copy of the Washington Post.

“When President Obama took office, two-thirds of his top aides were men. Women complained of having to elbow their way into important meetings. And when they got in, their voices were sometimes ignored. So female staffers adopted a meeting strategy they called “amplification”: When a woman made a key point, other women would repeat it, giving credit to its author. This forced the men in the room to recognize the contribution — and denied them the chance to claim the idea as their own.”

Interesting stuff!

So, with this in mind, we are delighted that Fiona Flynn, Foresight Corporate Development, will join us again on 12th June to deliver a very useful and practical Masterclass in Assertive Communication Skills.

The session will set you on the way to mastering the tools and techniques to communicate confidently, effectively and with clarity in our personal and professional lives.
