A business from Castlecoote is this year’s winner of the Roscommon County Enterprise Award for 2019.
Class Grass Ltd took the top prize of €3,500 at the Awards Ceremony in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon,
and will now represent Local Enterprise Office Roscommon at the 21 st National Enterprise Awards on
Wednesday, 29th May in the Mansion House, Dublin.

Class Grass Ltd was launched in 2010 by Padraic Cuddy, having identified a gap in the Irish market for
high quality synthetic grass for use in residential, commercial and education sectors and has grown into
one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of synthetic grasses.

In 2015, his son’s request for a realistic toy field sparked Padraic’s imagination and led to the
development of “The Field” a model toy farm, that has since sold more than 20,000 units and won
multiple awards. With the support of Local Enterprise Office Roscommon, Class Grass developed a
marketing strategy for “The Field” which is now stocked in 150 retail outlets as well as being sold
internationally online through Amazon and other platforms. Having expanded into UK, European and
German markets through a focus on digital marketing and strategic partnerships, Class Grass is well
placed to continue its growth story in these export markets over the coming years.

A Special Merit Award was presented to Athlone Baysports Ltd as recognition of exceptional growth in
employment and visitor numbers in the Tourism sector.

Judging for the National Enterprise Awards is taking place in April and May and Class Grass will be
competing against 30 other finalists from every Local Authority area for a share of the €40,000 prize
