US Opportinities

In 2014 Mayo County Council began an economic relationship with Rhode Island which has prospered.  A key benefit has been a number of Mayo small businesses now doing business in Rhode Island and the East Coast of the USA.

Roscommon Local Enterprise Office/County Council, as well as Sligo and Leitrim LEOs/Councils and Ireland West Airport Knock, have been working together to pilot a further extension of this initiative.  It involves an "Ireland West International Trade Centre” located in Providence, Rhode Island.  This facility would be a soft landing platform for companies looking to explore new markets on the US east coast accessing New York and Boston.   So if you or someone you know has a small business that is interested in doing business in the US or growing your existing level of business there, this initiative might be for you.

The Ireland West International Trade Centre would provide the following opportunities:

  1. Showcase facilities for company products & services (the Centre would not be a retail outlet - it would be accessible by distributors and wholesalers only and there is already significant commitment in that regard on the US side)
  2. Professional meeting environment and conference facilities
  3. Professional address for Irish businesses exploring new markets
  4. Office facilities and hot-desking options
  5. Professional support from Rhode Island Commerce Department in sourcing clients, networks, distributors and sales.
