2017 Training Programme Tender

Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Roscommon intends to offer the following Business Skills Training Programmes to micro-enterprises based in County Roscommon during 2017.

Overview

LEO Roscommon would welcome specifications and prices from interested, suitably qualified parties regarding delivery of Business Skills Training Programmes.

Prices submitted must be inclusive of all costs relating to the training initiative, with the exception of training venue costs, which will be borne by LEO Roscommon.

Any costs associated with the preparation and/or submission of specifications are to be borne by parties quoting and are in no way attributable to LEO Roscommon.

Submissions should include a current, up-to-date Tax Clearance Certificate and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

All submissions received and contracts awarded are dependent on demand for places on the programme, availability of funding to LEO Roscommon and priorities that LEO Roscommon sets out during 2017.

LEO Roscommon reserves the right to postpone or cancel any programme, even after award, if there is insufficient demand or subject to funding availability.

LEO Roscommon may choose to deliver all, some or none of the training programmes outlined below and may choose to offer other training programmes not featured below for delivery during 2017.

Should a training programme be run by LEO Roscommon on more than one occasion during 2017, LEO Roscommon reserves the right to select one or more training providers to deliver said programme.

Suggested content as outlined below is exactly that.  We welcome any suggestions you may have with regard to the exact content, etc., of any Programme you are quoting for.

Quotation proposals should include the following information:

  • A profile of your business 
  • Details and qualifications of trainer(s) who would deliver the programme.

NOTE:  The above 2 items need only be submitted once irrespective of the number of separate programmes being quoted for.

  • Relevant experience in delivering such programmes to the micro-enterprise sector, including names of other Local Enterprise Offices / agencies / organisations that you have delivered similar programmes for in the recent past.
  • The content of each programme to be delivered and methodology employed.
  • The overall cost of the programme with a full breakdown of all costs, where appropriate.
  • Participant number capacity on the programme, where appropriate.
  • Flexibility to deliver the programme, whether daytime or evening.
  • Copy of current valid Tax Clearance Certificate and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Quotes will be awarded based on the most advantageous submissions, using the following criteria:Knowledge/Understanding of Proposal (30 marks)

  • Ensure that specifications are NOT bound and that programmes are priced individually with a price listed per programme.
  • Regarding Certified Training, applicants must detail exactly what type and level of Certification will apply and outline the cost of certification per participant where appropriate.
  • Please note that both an electronic version and paper version of your submission will be required by:

1.  START YOUR OWN BUSINESS 

Aimed at individuals thinking of starting a business or at the early stage of start up.   

To include:  self assessment;  legal Issues; obligations in terms of tax and revenue; preparing a business plan; researching the market; understanding of basics of financial management.

Duration : 6 x half-day workshops.

2. KICK  START  YOUR  OWN  FOOD  BUSINESS

The aim of this programme is to provide participants with the knowledge of what is involved in setting up a food business. 

To include:  understanding what is artisan food production; identifying what are the pitfalls associated with starting your own food business;  minimum requirements, eg food safety, labelling requirements, insurance, etc.;  packaging and branding;  how to build your pricing model;  supports and assistance available.   

Duration:  4 x half-day workshops.

3. HOW  TO  WRITE  A  BUSINESS  PLAN

To suit those who want to develop their own Business Plan. 

To include:   why prepare a Business Plan;  what should be included in a Business Plan;  who the Business Plan is for; how to structure the Business Plan including content.

Duration: 2 x half-day workshops.

4. INTRODUCTION  TO  PRICING  +  COSTING

This workshop will look at how products and services need to be costed to ensure a viable business.   In costing properly, a business can price to be competitive.   Costing and pricing are features that contribute to good cash flow management.

Duration:2 x half-day workshops.

5. SELF-ASSESSMENT  TAXATION

An introduction to the self-assessment tax system, dates to remember and how to calculate your tax.   Suitable for all sole traders and those considering starting a business.

Duration:2 x half-day workshops.

6. HOW  TO  MASTER  YOUR  VAT  RETURN

The aim is to assist businesses to take control of their own VAT return. 

To include:  Revenue’s definition of a business expense;  operating from home – how to allocate bills such as light, heat, phone; filing system to satisfy Revenue; different VAT rates; when one must register; how and when to pay; what records to keep.

Duration:1 x half-day workshop.

7. BASIC  BOOK-KEEPING  FOR  SMALL  BUSINESS

Aimed at individuals with little or no book-keeping experience and who are interested in acquiring the necessary skills to maintain a MANUAL book-keeping system for a small business, which will ensure they meet all revenue and legal requirements, but will also provide them with a system of monitoring their business financial performance.

Duration: 4 x half-day workshops.

8.  COMPUTERISED ACCOUNTS – Quote for the system you specialise in, whether Sage, TAS or QuickBooks.

Sage, TAS and QuickBooks - aimed at existing users of the package in question and is a Refresher/Improvers course.   

To include : Enable users to acquire the skills to use the full functionality of the software to improve business performance.  

Duration : 4 x half-day workshops and one face to face session.

9.  USING  SOCIAL  MEDIA  FOR  BUSINESS   

Aimed at those in business who are keen to use Social Media as part of their digital Marketing Strategy.  Participants will gain knowledge to plan a low cost approach to effective marketing. 

To include: introduction to social media marketing;  setting SMART goals; customer analysis + profiling; content creation; publishing posts that encourage engagement; how to represent your brand on social media; video for YouTube and Facebook.

Duration : 2 x half day workshops.

10.  FACEBOOK FOR BUSINESS - ADVANCED

Aimed at individuals who have a Facebook page for their business, but who need to bring it to the next level.

To include:  Facebook strategy, advanced Facebook posting, promoting on Facebook, using tabs, linking your online presences, using Insights, what drives reach and engagement, advanced header options.

Duration : 4 x half-day workshops one face-to-face training session per business.

11. SCHEDULING  A  SOCIAL  MEDIAL  CAMPAIGN  -  THE  DO’S  &  DON’TS  

Aimed at owner/managers or key staff members who are responsible for the delivery of/or management of the digital marketing function in the business. 

To include: current trends; tips for planning a campaign; setting objectives;  planning content and developing stories around your campaign, etc.

Duration: 2 x half-day workshops.

12. FACEBOOK  ADVERTISING

Aimed at individuals who have a Facebook page for their business. 

To include: Overview of ways to run adverts; how to create targeted audiences; demonstrate the different types of Facebook ads and when to use them; how to create successful ads; understanding and analysing campaign results, etc.

Duration:  2 x half-day workshops.

13.IMAGE  CREATION  FOR  SOCIAL  MEDIA

A practical workshop to assist people to create powerful images that can be shared on social media and for digital marketing in general. 

To include:  the importance of images;  creating effective graphics; how to create graphics – uploading images, using stock images, integrating brand colours and font onto images, stacking images, inserting text, creating images that meet Facebook’s guidelines;  how to schedule and edit posts; etc. 

Duration: 2 x half-day workshops.

14.HOW  TO  SHOOT  +  EDIT  MARKETING  VIDEOS  ON  A  BUDGET

In this hands on workshop participants will learn how to shoot and edit videos using a smartphone.  To include:  overview of how companies are using video for marketing; what equipment is needed in order to shoot videos with a smartphone; tips on how to shoot videos;  how to edit video clips into a marketing video; how to upload a video to YouTube; how to have your video found on YouTube; how to get your video onto a website; how to share a video on Facebook.

Duration:  2 x half-day workshops.

15.WEBSITE  DESIGN  -  FACTORS  TO  CONSIDER

This should not be a “how to design a website” type course, but rather make attendees aware of the factors that a newly designed or updated website should take into account e.g. page load speed, number of steps the visitor has to take to make a purchase, SEO, Google Analytics, responsiveness, etc.

16.  MARKETING INCLUDING  EMAIL MARKETING

Aimed at individuals with responsibility for marketing their business. This programme should give a solid foundation in The Marketing Process, along with low-cost and no-cost marketing actions.

To include : The Marketing Process, target marketing, profiling your customer, branding, The Four Ps, online (digital) and offline marketing actions, including social media. Email marketing to be included.

Duration : 5 x half-day workshops.

17.  MAILCHIMP

To give attendees the skills to create and gain value from their own electronic newsletter campaigns, using templates and lists on the Mailchimp platform and show how to integrate sign-up forms onto their Facebook page and website.

Duration: 2 x half-day workshops.

18.HUMAN  RESOURCE  MANAGEMENT

Aimed at those who manage a business and have employees or those who are considering hiring staff.   The course is to be designed to familiarise participants with the various aspects of HRM that are needed when dealing with employees – overview of recruitment and selection process; performance management and appraisal, employee motivation, employment legislation, grievance and disciplinary procedures, diversity.

Duration: 4 x half-day workshops.

19.ESSENTIAL  EMPLOYMENT  LAW

Aimed at giving participants a full understanding of the main aspects of employment law that are likely to impact business owners and their employees.   It will cover employment issues, contracts, policies, termination and employers obligations.

Duration: 2 x half-day workshops.

20.HEALTH  +  SAFETY  FOR  THE  SMALL  BUSINESS

To include:  the role of the Health + Safety Authority Legislation; duties of managers, supervisors and employees; accident recording and reporting; consequences on non-compliance; hazard identification; preventative strategies; safety statements/risk assessments; role of safety representatives; good health and safety practices.

Duration: 4 x half-day workshops.

21.HACCP /  FOOD  SAFETY  (CERTIFIED)

The purpose of this course is to provide food workers with the skills, knowledge and awareness of the importance of good food hygiene practices.   All participants will learn the legal requirement for HACCP and food safety training.  This course is externally certified by the Environmental Health Association of Ireland.   The course will specifically cover all new and recent changes in food safety legislation and standards.   To include:  introduction to food safety; microbiological hazards; food contamination; HACCP from food delivery to storage; HACCP from food preparation to cooking and service; personal hygiene; food premises and equipment; pest control; cleaning and disinfecting; food safety law and enforcement.

Duration:  One day and exam

22.1 : 1  CLINICS  :  SOCIAL  MEDIA   

Objective:  to work with participants on a one-to-one basis for one hour, providing them with individual advice and practical assistance.

Duration:  Clinics one hour each x 6 participants per day.

23.  CLINICS  -  BUSINESS  WEBSITE  REVIEW

Objective:  to ensure that each of the participants websites are performing at an optimum level and working efficiently for the business.  

Duration:60/90 minutes per individual clinic.
