Local Enterprise Office South Dublin announces exciting schedule of events for ‘Local Enterprise Week’ in March

Around the country, 14,500 small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs expected to attend over 380 events during Local Enterprise Week in March.


Running from March 5th to 10th all 31 LEOs, including LEO South Dublin will be celebrating Local Enterprise Week with a range of events for start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses in South Dublin.  Entrepreneurs of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, seminars, advice clinics and one-to-one mentoring throughout the week.  The focus of Local Enterprise Week is to increase awareness of the range of LEO supports and services available to micro and small enterprises.

Highlights of Local Enterprise Week in South Dublin will include:

  • Creative Growth Strategies using Design Thinking

When? 11am, Monday 5th March; Where? Synergy Centre, IT Tallaght

Highlighting the benefits of incorporating design principles into strategic growth decisions and innovative approaches to business development with proven results.  Chaired by President of the Institute of Designers Ireland (IDI), Kim MacKenzie Doyle, this event has a selection of expert speakers on design thinking and also sees the launch of the Design4Growth programme.  All attendees will also receive a voucher for a FREE 1 hour consultation with an IDI approved designer.

  • Super B2B Networking Morning with a Mindfulness in the Workplace Workshop

When? 7am, Tuesday 6th March; Where? Maldron Hotel, Tallaght

Run in conjunction with South Dublin Chamber, this event will feature a facilitated networking session with Noel Davidson from Entrepreneur’s Academy followed by a Mindfulness workshop from internationally acclaimed The Potential Project.

  • “Fighting Talk” with Ivan Yates(Newstalk and TV3) and John Kavanagh(SBG)

When? 7pm, Wednesday 7th March; Where? County Hall, Tallaght

One of the highlights of the week sees Ivan Yates interviewing John Kavanagh, founder of SBG and award winning MMA coach, about the highs and lows of business, getting insights into the motivation and lessons learned along the way.  The event will also feature the announcement of the South Dublin Local Enterprise Award Winners for 2018 with full refreshments and catering provided by fabulous local restaurant Peachtree East.  Don’t miss it!


In addition to the above mentioned events the Local Enterprise Week also events covering:

  • Demystifying Procurement for SMEs;
  • Tax and Accounting Workshop for SMEs and Start Ups;
  • Student Enterprise Programme finals;
  • An already booked-out seminar on the impact of GDPR on local business, and:
  • A comprehensive schedule of events in local libraries.


Colm Ward, Head of Enterprise with LEO South Dublin said that Local Enterprise Week is a great ‘shop window’ for help available to local start-ups, sole traders and small businesses in. He added:

“Local Enterprise Week, which takes place from March 5th to 10th, is a collaboration on a local and national scale between Local Enterprise Offices, local business communities and networks and other business support agencies to engage, assist and showcase local business.  We hope these events will inspire and motivate many entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in South Dublin as well as letting them know the range of supports available to them.”
