Enterprise Week 2015 - A Resounding Success

Tipperary’s first Enterprise Week ran from 18 to 22 May and during the week the County hosted a series of events aimed at stimulating business growth and new business creation to drive economic prosperity with an estimated 700 potential & existing entrepreneurs attending over 20 events which offered something for everyone, regardless of whether you wanted to develop a business idea, start a business or grow your existing enterprise.

Guest speakers and industry experts from Failte Ireland, Rethink Tourism, Retail Excellence Ireland and James Bourke offered insights into all aspects of business during a week of events which afforded the opportunity to network with like-minded local business people and share knowledge with other entrepreneurs. 

The “Who to Talk to” event which was an information event designed encourage individuals considering self employment and to inform new and existing business promoters about supports available for business creation and development attracted 350 individuals at two locations in Clonmel and Roscrea.  The event included funding workshops with presentations from Enterprise Ireland, Microfinance Ireland, IntertradeIreland, the Local Enterprise Office and the Leader Partnerships.  The Economic and Funding Breakfast Seminar saw award winning journalist Philip Boucher Hayes and John Finn of Treasury Solutions give over 40 local businesses an insight into how national and international economics impacts on their business. 

A group of 100 individuals interested in the Tourism sector packed Cahir House Hotel mid week while in the north of the county the Retail Symposium heard from experts on how they can stimulate and energise retailers to rethink their approach to doing business in these challenging times. Other well attended events included the Green Business Networking morning, the Connect Ireland event in Terryglass, the Innovation Seminar and Procurement workshop held in Questum Centre Clonmel, the Agribusiness Clinics in conjunction with Teagasc at the Horse & Jockey and well as the Energy Efficiency Clinics in conjunction with the Tipperary Energy Agency.  As well as the main events listed numerous business set-up & advice clinics, Social Media and Export Workshops ran throughout the week. 

Tipperary Enterprise Week is an initiative of Tipperary County Council in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland, The Education & Training Board, LIT, Local Development Companies, Teagasc and the Local Enterprise Office.
