A NEW ENTERPRISE CENTRE FOR ROSCREA? Get involved.

Roscrea Chamber of Commerce, with the backing of Tipperary County Council / Tipperary Local Enterprise Office, is investigating the potential to establish a new community enterprise centre in the town.  Community Enterprise Centres have been shown to play a vital role in nurturing start-up indigenous companies across Ireland and are leading lights for employment creation.

Roscrea Chamber President Seamus Browne explains ‘ the Chamber has been working behind the scenes to research the feasibility of setting up a new Enterprise Centre in Roscrea where start ups and expanding businesses can base themselves. We are looking at the potential of a few options. A food hub is under investigation which would be dedicated to food production for smaller companies. Our “Taste of Roscrea “ initiative has shown we have a real strength in the food sector in the area” .

Seamus Browne went on to say “another sector with potential is the ICT, digital and knowledge based business sector. This would appeal to not only e-business, software development, IT support and creative sectors but also to freelancers who want a professional office environment, commuting  employees who can work from a local office for part of the week or ‘Overflow’ project teams who may require access to overflow workspace as required for a time. Our other option is an engineering/sub supply/multi sector facility or perhaps a combination of these areas.’

Rita Guinan, Head of Enterprise, Tipperary County Council/ Local Enterprise Office, explains ‘in recent years we have worked with communities throughout Tipperary to bring the benefits of Community Enterprise Centres to their area. Examples in the north of the County include the Thurles Chamber Enterprise Centre, the Rear Cross Food Works and The North Tipperary Green Enterprise Park in Cloughjordan. At this time, we are calling on businesses and individuals with business ideas in need of workspace in Roscrea and its hinterland to come forward and tell us what their requirements are ”,
