Nenagh Firm MediSkin wins the 2017 County Enterprise Awards Promoted by Local Enterprise Office

At a function held in Cashel on Thursday evening 9 March, Geraldine Byrne Cullohillbyrneservices Ltd. T/a MediSkin Nenagh was named as the County Tipperary 2017 Enterprise Awards Overall Winner. The Runner Up was One Box Vision Ltd., Clonmel while the third prize went to Pressure Welding Manufacturing Ltd. Thurles.

In addition six special category awards were presented to Sola Energy Solutions Templemore, EireChrom Ltd Clonmel, Bourke Sports Borrisoleigh, Phil Purcell Engineering Ltd Upperchurch, Tipperary Boutique Distillery Ltd Cahir and Lisduff Fine Foods, Nenagh. The County Winner Geraldine Byrne will now advance to represent Tipperary at this year’s National Enterprise Awards which carries a prize fund of €27,000 and will take place in The Mansion House, Dublin on Thursday 25 May.

The County Enterprise Awards were introduced 20 years ago to celebrate the success of Ireland’s small firms. The winning businesses were announced by the Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, Ms Siobhan Ambrose. Other speakers at the function included internationally acclaimed speaker Kevin Kelly on the topic of the Xceptional Entrepreneur”, Rita Guinan Head of Enterprise, Tipperary County Council, Ita Horan and Madeline Ryan from Local Enterprise Office.

At County level, the Local Enterprise Office made available a prize fund of €9,000 in addition to commemorative trophies and certificates.   From the County to National stages the competition is adjudicated using a standard criteria and marking system. Judges this year included Martin Troy Manager AIB Nenagh, Mary Ryan Financial & Business Management Services Upperchurch and Jim Ryan Clonmel.

Previous County winners have attested to the value and benefits of winning such as extensive PR, networking and linkages as well as the prestige, credibility and recognition attached to the awards.

(1)“Sustainable Energy Promotion” This award is recognition of a firm that has pioneered the advancement of new systems and technologies which both influence and bring tangible benefits for sustainable energy management across the Region.
