COURSE AIM & STRUCTURE

This two-day food export training course will meet the individual needs of participants whatever your level of exporting knowledge. It is constructed to be a results-driven, practical, engaging, food export training course which will assist food businesses explore and action their export potential in other new mainland EU markets beyond the UK post BREXIT. 

To maximize the potential for success and minimise exposure to risk when exporting for the first time, participants will be trained and supported in taking a systematic approach to entering a new export market by creating an ‘Export Plan’ and develop an awareness of the key SME export success factors to build the management expertise to begin your EU export journey.  

The course will include an overview of the German, French, and Scandinavian food export markets, trends, and opportunities. Participants will be trained to identify key barriers to mainland EU market entry, differentiate between market entry strategies and how to identify potential export partners in each mainland EU market through research.

DAY 1 

  • ARE YOU READY FOR EXPORT – What needs to be done? Do you have the resources?  
  • TARGET MARKET INTRODUCTION TO THE EXPORT PLAN – How to prepare an Export market entry plan. 
  • MARKET RESEARCH – Researching your target export Market.  Gap Analysis.  
  • NPD – Developing the right product for a different consumer. 
  • EXPORT PACKAGING – Creating the right pack for the market. Laws, Language. Etc.  
  • USP - Getting your product right. Defining the market opportunity. Defining your unique product offering  
  • TRADE MARK – How to protect your brand in an export market 
  • GRANT AID – What grant aid support is available to help you export? 

DAY 2 

  • PRESENTATION – How to present your brand to importers and distributors in export markets. 
  • LOGISITIICS – How to get your product from here to there safely & with the correct paperwork. 
  • MARGINS – What margins are required for resellers?  Getting paid! 
  • COSTS – Understanding the margins, price structure and delivery costs. 
  • FINANCE - Understanding the funding and budget requirements for export sales.  
  • DISTRIBUTION / ROUTE TO MARKET – Options available when entering a market.  
  • EXPORT SALES - Sales prospecting.  How to find the right customers.  
  • WEB : Digital Support Planning for foreign markets 
  • LEGAL : Duties, Taxes, Insurance, Customs clearance.  
  • MARKETING / PROMOTION / PR / DIGITAL - Promotional tactics to support the brand post launch.
