Tax & VAT for Start-Up Businesses:

Objective:

To provide participants with a total understanding of why and how to register for VAT and how to operate the VAT system in a practical manner.  To provide participants with a good basic understanding of the Tax system, profitable income, tax calculations USC and PRSI.  Benefits of sole trader, partnership or Limited Company. Participants will have a practical and hands on training session which includes calculations of relevant profits, VAT returns and income tax calculations.

Content:

  • Practical advice on registration forms, VAT limits, rates, forms and relevant dates.
  • Advice on tax credits, rates of tax, USC and self employed PRSI.
  • Aids to understand the benefits of self-employment - sole trader, partnership or Limited Company.
  • VAT guidelines - limits, rates and dates to remember.
  • VAT registration requirements and looking at Form TR1.
  • Completing records for a VAT return, completing a VAT 3 form by hand and online.
  • Comparing a sole trader, partnership and limited company - why and why not.
  • Calculating income and expenditure and relevant profits.
  • Self assessment form - how to complete it and basic income tax calculations, tax credits, USC and PRSI rates.
  • Taking the fear out of dealing with revenue.
