Women in Business Network:

An online network for women in business. This is about being supported where you are and having an opportunity to promote your products or service to your peers.

Speaker:

Paula Fitzsimons is the founder of Fitzsimons Consulting, which specialises in areas related to entrepreneurship and growth. She is the national coordinator for the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) research project in Ireland and served on the global board as the President of the national teams.

Recognising that fewer women entrepreneurs have significant growth ambitions than do men, Paula designed and developed Going for Growth, which is focused on peer support to assist female entrepreneurs who wish to grow their businesses.

Sponsored by Enterprise Ireland and KPMG, Going for Growth has supported over 750 women entrepreneurs and measures its success in terms of the participants’ increased turnover, additional employment created, and the number of new exporters.

Paula also designed and developed ACORNS to support early stage female entrepreneurs living in rural Ireland. Supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine, 200 participants are currently being supported through the initiative.

Paula has also designed and implemented Back for Business, a tailored initiative for returning emigrants who have recently established a new business or are planning to do so. Back for Business is supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. 

Paula was awarded the WMB Empowering Women Award in 2014.  She was appointed by the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to the SME and Entrepreneurship Taskforce in 2020.

Paula will speak about female entrepreneurship, developing a growth mindset, peer support, and resilience.
